has
imposed
indefinite

along
National
Highway

and
Imphal
Tamenglong
road
today
midnight.
Chairman of the Federation, P Damsuak said the blockade was called as the State Government had repeatedly failed to consider its demands even after serving an ultimatum several times.
Essential services like water supply, electricity, medical and press would be exempted from the purview of the blockade. The Federation was demanding extension of immediate relief to the villages affected by bamboo flowering, rodent menace, proper power supply, completion of the road work between Tamenglong to Makru bridge point of NH-53 via Azuram and compensation to the land owners along NH-53 villages which have been occupied by the paramilitary forces.
The farmers in the sub-division were badly affected by bamboo flowering and the area was facing acute shortage of rice and essential items. The entire state was also facing problems related to power as heavy load shedding programme was enforced.
