Bangalore, Oct 8 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy tonight accused the BJP and Congress of attempting to split the JD(S) by wooing party legislators following the collapse of coalition government in the state.

Talking to newspersons, after tendering resignation to Governor Rameshwar Thakur at the Raj Bhavan today, he however, complimented the party legislators for not yielding to them and reposing confidence in his leadership.

''Though no BJP leader discussed with me, it is true that some BJP leaders did consult Transport Minister R Cheluvarayaswamy and suggested that I could continue for another couple of months,'' he said adding that ''he, however, had rejected the idea''.

He said his party legislators were free to join hands with the BJP to form the next government, ignoring him.

He recalled the developments during the last one week and said the coalition partner BJP hastily brought in the party's national leaders into picture with regard to the power transfer issue and messed up the whole thing without discussing directly with him.

''They instead chose the media to make the communication,'' he said.

Asked whether his party would again support the BJP, he merely said ''the ball is now in the Governor's court''.
