Jalandhar, Oct 8 (UNI) To control, rising crime graph in the city, police today started community policing scheme in association with general public.
While launching the scheme in Division No. 6 Police Station, IG (Zonal) Sanjeev Kalra said that 85 community police officers (CPOs) were inducted as night watchmen under the scheme.
He said police has provided them uniform but people of the area where the CPOs would be posted would contribute to give monthly salary to them.
All the CPOs would report to concerned police station everyday before going to their area, Mr Kalra said adding that gradually the scheme would be launched in the entire city.
