Brahmins demand upliftment of community

Rajkot, Oct 8 (UNI) The Brahmin Community leaders warned all the political parties not to underestimate them in the forthcoming elections and urged a large gathering to unite for the political existence of the community in the current scenario.

Nearly 30,000 brahmins gathered in a state level Sammelan which was held here yesterday at Chaudhari high school.

The speakers passed the resolution for the social, educational, political and economical development of the communty.

Brahm Akta Manch has organised this sammellan where former Chief Minister Suresh Maheta, GPCC General Secretary Gaurav Pandya, former MLA and BSP General Secretary Nalin Bhatt, Congress MLA Bhikhabhai Joshi, religious leader Chaitanya Shambhu Maharaj spoke on the occasion and demanded adeqate representations from 'Sarpanch to Sanasad'.

Though this function is held purely on non-political base but wanted to give weightage to the Brahmin community in the coming elections and uniting for the cause of the community.

Former Deputy Mayor of Rajkot and convenor of the function Indranil Rajguru along with another convenor Jitu Maheta also spoke.

Father of slain BJP minister Haren Pandya, Vithalbhai Pandya also attended the sammelan.

The speakers also said that spacewoman Sunita Williams would also be felicitated as she is a Brahmin.
