Official sources here said a gang of Bangladeshi smugglers were crossing the international border with a number of cattleheads from the Indian side and the BSF jawans opened fire killing one of the smugglers on the spot, while four other sustained bullet injuries.
The four injured persons, however, managed to flee with the cattle.
A Bangladeshi smuggler from Satkshira district was also gunned down two days back at Tarali Mollapara closed to the international border under Swarupnagar police station during smuggling of cattle.
