Agartala, Oct 7 (UNI) Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has decided to include more chapters on Indian freedom fighters in the syllabus to instill patriotism among the young generation.
Reacting to the recent controversy over the presence of Mahatma Gandhi's life history in the school curricula, TBSE President Prof also Subrata Sengupta here today said not only Gandhiji but the syllabus should include chapters on all national leaders of the freedom movement.
''It was my duty to make students aware of India's freedom movement to work in favour of the apostle of non-violence and Gandhian principles,'' Prof Sengupta said.
He assured that the lives and works of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda, Raja Ram Mohan Roy and other national leaders would be included in the syllabus of Class I to X and it would be highlighted more in the coming years.
There was no question of deprivation of students in history or cultural root and nationalism, the president asserted.
