Agartala, Oct 7 (UNI) Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has decided to include more chapters on Indian freedom fighters in the syllabus to instill patriotism amongst the young generations towards patriotism.
Reacting to the recent controversy over the presence of Mahatma Gandhi's life history in the school curriculums, TBSE President Prof Subrata Sengupta here today said not only Gandhiji but the syllabus chapters on all national leaders of the freedom movement.
''It was my duty to make students aware about India's freedom movement to work in favour of the apostle of non-violence and Gandhian principles,'' Prof Sengupta said.
He assured that the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda, Raja Ram Mohan Roy and other national leaders were included in the syllabus of Class I to X and it would be highlighted more in coming years.
There was no question of deprivation of students in history or cultural root and nationalism, the president asserted.
