SMEC plans to become 200 member body

Hyderabad, Oct 7 (UNI) Small and Medium Enterprises Consortium (SMEC), floated by NRIs from United States, mostly from Andhra Pradesh, was planning to become a 200-member body from 60 in two months.

In a release here today, the Consortium Chairman M Mahendar said the combined turnover of the companies of SMEC would be around Rs 12,000 crore. It would increase once the new campus starts functioning.

Mr Mahendar said the SMEC was in the process of developing a detailed project report to build a campus style environment that includes a business district, residential complexes, shopping district and educational institutions with world class conference facilities.

The Andhra Pradesh Government in principle agreed to support the SMEC to provide infrastructure facilities, the release added.
