Punjab defeats J&K in C K Naidu trophy by an inning and 64 runs

Srinagar, Oct 7 (UNI) Punjab today defeated Jammu and Kashmir by an inning and 64 runs on the third day of the four day match in C K Naidu under-22 cricket tournament being played at Shar-e-Kashmir cricket stadium here.

Punjab won the toss and invited the host to bat first.

Jammu and Kashmir was bundled out for 177 runs in 41.5 overs in their first inning.

In reply Punjab put on a huge 392 runs for the loss of all wickets in their first innings thus taking lead of 215 runs.

Fifth wicket partnership of 174 runs between Sumit Sharma and Udhay Koul paved the way for amassing such huge first inning total for Punjab.

Udhay scored brilliant 125 runs while Sumit scored 104.

For home team, Asif and Mudasir claimed three wickets each.

Trailing by 215 runs, the home team had a terrible start to their second innings as they lost both the openers when the score read seven.

In the second inning, Punjab's medium pacer Birinder Singh wreak havoc to Jammu and Kashmir batsmen. He bowled immaculate line and length and took nine wickets for 47 runs.

Jammu and Kashmir score could only 151 runs in their second innings, resulting in huge Punjab win by an inning and 64 runs.

The match was officiated by S K Sharma and Paschim Pathak while Amarjeet Kaypee was the match referee from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
