Health Insurance Scheme in eight districts of Bihar: Modi

Patna, Oct 7 (UNI) A Health Insurance Scheme, covering labourers in the unorganised sectors would be launched in eight districts of Bihar.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that initially the scheme would be launched in eight districts during the finacial year 2008-09. Later the same would be extended in all districts of the state during next five years, he added.

Under this scheme, five members a family would get the benefit as they would not be required to pay any single penny for Rs 750 which would be paid as annual premium every year, Mr Modi said adding the Centre would incur 75 per cent expenditure against this head while rest would be given by the state government.

The insured amount under this scheme would be Rs 30,000 and the beneficiaries could claim maximum of Rs 1000 as conveyance for reaching the hospitals in one year while not more than Rs 100 would be paid at once for expenses in rushing the patients to hospitals.
