New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) Flowing locks may be romantic for some, but well-known hair stylist Javed Habib swears by short hair for all those who want to spend life on the fast lane. "Everyone today knows what he or she is looking for. Nobody has the time to apply herbal medicines on their hair. Everyone wants a quick 'wash-and-go' hairstyle that looks pretty. So, I often recommend short hair," Habib said.
Sporting a spiked hair style in dull brown colour, he was sharing hair tips with a gathering at the 'Kitty Party' organised for the guests and winners of the Grihlakshmi contest of Red FM and Zee TV earlier this week. Grihlakshmi is a women's monthly magazine, a part of Diamond group of publications.
He explained that the three main reasons for dandruff are lack of hygiene, sweating (probably due to length of hair) and using the wrong shampoo. It is important to use the right shampoo for oily and dry hair and to keep the hair trimmed at an optimum length, he said.
Answering a question, he said, "the latest trend is to experiment with colours. The trick lies in knowing which colours suit your personality and skin tone.
''If you really want healthy skin and hair, go out and smile a lot, enjoy life and stop stressing over everything", he added, with a big grin on his face.
Star attractions of the event included Manini De and Jhalak Thakkar from Star TV and the youngest Saas-Bahu jodi of 'Teen Bahuraniya' being aired at Zee TV.
Manini narrated the story of how she struggled through bouts of anorexia and bulimia when she joined ramp modelling. "But now I know that it is fitness and health that matters more. If you eat healthy, take care of personal hygiene and do your workouts, you do not need cosmetics for a glow on your face all day long," she said.
Jhalak said she followed a strict regime of cleansing, toning and moisturising as she often had to wear cosmetics for 12 to 14 hours at a stretch.
The event featured makeup makeovers by Mary Kay, hair styling demonstrations by Habib, nail art, designer wear, jewellery, low-fat and healthy recipe demonstrations and a fashion show to celebrate the beauty of women.
