Panaji, Oct 7 (UNI) As part of ensuring transperancy in administration, Goa government today constituted a special task force, headed by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, for guiding the government in preparation of a Regional Plan-2021.
The erstwhile government, headed by then Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, had scrapped the controversial Regional Plan-2011 following uproar by the public and NGOs under the banner Goa Bachao Abhiyan, assuring them of preparing another acceptable plan.
Noted architect Charles Correa is appointed vice-chariman of the task force, which has to submit its interim report on or before December 15 and the final report by March next.
The task force will hold its first meeting this weekend.
Once the government accepts its interim report, it will direct the task force to prepare the final report for submission by the deadline.
The report will be considered as a guideline for prerparing the Regional Plan-2021, according to a notification issued by the Town and Country Planning Department.
The task force will suggest an appropriate methodology for preparation of the Regional Plan. The department secretary Rajiov Yeduvanshi is its convenor.
Other members of the taskforce include Dr S P Deshpande, Prof Edgar Ribeiro, Dr Oscar Rebello, convenor of the Goa Bachao Abhiyan, architects Dean D'Cruz and Rahul Deshpande, Mark Rodrigues, reprsentative of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Datta Naik, representative of Goa Chamber of Housing Industry.
