Hyderabad, Oct 7 (UNI) Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and MP Vundavilli Arunkumar said the Congress as a political party was ready to face early elections.
Participating in the Meet-the-Press Programme organised by the AP Union of Working Journalists here, he said AICC President Sonia Gandhi's assertion as chief of a politcal party on early elections was correct in view of the threat by the Left parties on the Indo-US civil Nuclear Deal.
Asked about Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ruling out early elections, he said as head of the government, Dr Singh's prediction was also correct as the Left parties had not withdrawn support to the UPA Government.
He said the Left parties want to continue with the government.
The Congress was not wishing for early elections as it wanted to complete its full term.
''If early elections come, the party is ready to face them'', he said.
