BMC to invest Rs 250 crore on water pumps in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will invest around Rs 250 crore for building of four water pumps in the city that will drain out rain water directly into the sea at a very high speed.

With the introduction of these pumps, there will be very few water clogged areas in the city during heavy rains, claim people who are behind the proposal.

The pumps will be situated at Love Grove, Haji Ali, Leave Land and Irla and will be built at a cost of Rs 89.63 crore, Rs 69.98 and Rs 79.30 crore and Rs 77.45 crore respectively.

The speed of the pumps is 60 cubic mtrs, 36 cubic mtrs, 42 cubic mtrs and 48 cubic mtrs resectively.

The proposal for the same has been discussed and will be cleared in the Standing Committee meeting this month and the pumps will be ready in a few months time, said civic officials.
