Vijayawada, Oct 7 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today reconstituted an 'Accreditation Committee' for journalists and released a GO in this regard, Information and Tourism Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said electronic media and press photographers were included in the accreditation list, besides print media.
Mr Reddy said the Government had decided to unveil a bronze statue of veteran journalist Chalapathi Rao in the journalist colony at Hyderabad.
The minister said the Information Department had decided to purchase nine vehicles for presspersons and photographers to cover important events in the State.
The department had also proposed to purchase new vehicles to reach remote villages to educate the people over various welfare programmes, he said and added that steps were taken to provide one vehicle to every two assembly segments for this purpose.
The Minister criticised the Telegu Desam Party(TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu for levelling allegation against the Congress Government on various welfare programmes.
The Government had constructed 12 lakh houses during the last two years and would also construct additional 20 lakh houses in the next two years, he added.
Mr Reddy said the Government had distributed the old age and widow pension scheme to 45 lakh people and it would be increased to 60 lakh during the course of time.
