UPA committed to devp of every section: Cong
Lucknow, Oct 6: Congress today said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre was constantly working for the uplift of every religion, community and caste.
''Besides economic development, the UPA has left no stone unturned for the progress of medical and health sectors,'' Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) newly-elected president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said here today.
However, Ms Joshi stressed the need to publicise the Bharat Nirman Yojna, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme and Right to Information Act (RTI) kickstarted by the union government.
Slamming the ruling Mayawati-led BSP regime in UP, the Congress leader claimed that for public welfare schemes, the Centre had provided the state government funds amounting to several thousands of crores.
Sadly, the government is utilising the funds for its propoganda, she added.
She said had the funds been used as per the motive of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, UP would have come on the lines of development.
