Local Sindhi Samaj President Harish Mehani has been taken into custody on the charge of causing hindrance in government work, rioting and assault, police said.
Supporters of tenant Rajpal Sindhi, who runs a hotel, and shop owner Pawan Agrawal clashed yesterday when the shop in front of Itarsi railway station was being vacated on the directive of the apex court.
Three cases had been registered in this regard mainly against Harish Mehani and his supporters for causing hindrance in court and government work.
The Supreme Court had directed Civil Judge Payaglal Dinkar to handover possession of the shop to Pawan Agrawal before October 16.
Rajpal was running a hotel there for about 17 years. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kailash Bundela was present when it was being vacated.
Later the shop was flattened with JCB machine, official sources said.
