TATA Memorial Centre holds a human chain in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) On the occasion of the third World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, Tata Memorial Centre today held a human chain formation event in order to spread awareness about Palliative care for cancer patients.

Mumbai Mayor Dr Shubha Raul, TV actors -- Jaya Bhattacharya, Neena Kulkarni and Vandana Gupte -- participated in the human chain formation event comprising 1,500 people. The chain began from the Hindmata intersection, Dadar and stretched to the Parel Flyover.

'Let the world know that there may be a limit to cure but there is no end to care', is the motto of the Palliative Care Services Unit of the Tata Memorial Centre.

Nandana Kasotia Counselor at TATA Memorial said, ''Palliative care provides respect to life and strives to make the last days of the patient as comfortable as possible. The multi-professional team of our unit looks after the physical, emotional, social, practical and spiritual needs of the patients, assuring that they live and die with dignity.'' UNI
