STUTTGART, Germany, Oct 6 (Reuters) Justine Henin extended her perfect record against Jelena Jankovic today, posting a 7-6 7-5 victory over the third-seeded Serb to seal a place in the Stuttgart Grand Prix final.
The world number one, playing in her first tournament since winning the U.S. Open, started brilliantly but had to play her way through a ragged patch in the middle of the match before wrapping up the win in one hour 54 minutes.
From 2-5 down in the first set, Jankovic fought her way back to force a tie-break, which the Belgian won 7-2.
Henin fell a break down early in the second set but she hit back in game seven with a perfect backhand lob and finished strongly to make it eight wins out of eight against Jankovic.
Henin will go on to face the winner of the second semi-final between second-seeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova and France's unseeded Tatiana Golovin.
