Hearing on disqualification of JD(S) MLAs on Oct 12
Bangalore, Oct 6 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly Speaker Krishna today adjourned the hearing on a petition seeking disqualification of 37 Janata Dal (Secular) legislators, including Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, to October 12.
JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda had written to the Speaker announcing suspension of party MLAs, who had joined hands with the BJP for forming a coalition government after parting ways with the Congress in 2006.
Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, who filed a petition before the Speaker, demanded immediate action on disqualification. He termed the recent Cabinet decision to convene a session of the Assembly on October 18, as ''unconstitutional.'' JD(S) MLAs, during hearing today urged the Speaker to invite Mr Gowda to depose before him (Speaker) on the letter (which Gowda sent to the Speaker). However, it was opposed by Mr Nagraj, who contended that there was no need to ask Mr Gowda to depose as the letter itself was proof for having dismissed the MLAs.
