GVK Biosciences unveil new Rs 40 cr Research Centre
Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) GVK Biosciences Private Limited (GVK BIO) today unveiled the GVK BIO Wyeth Hyderabad Chemistry Centre, a build-to-suit Research Centre for Wyeth pharmaceuticals located in Hyderabad.
The research centre was inaugurated by Wyeth Research, President Robert Ruffolo in the presence of US Consul General in Chennai David Hopper, GVK Group Chairman G V Krishna Reddy, GVK BIO Chairman D S Brar and GVK BIO Managing Director G V Sanjay Reddy.
According to a release here, A team of 200 synthetic chemists and scientists were working on cutting-edge research in this state-of-the-art facility created with Rs 40 crore investment. The facility was equipped with the latest high-end scientific equipment and instrumentation.
GVK BIO and Wyeth entered into a collaborative research agreement in 2006, the release said.
The Managing Director said the company will have a five-year partnership initially. The centre was expected to yield USD 50 million business for the company. About 700 projects are currently underway with GVK BIO.
Dr Ruffolo said "Wyeth has a large discovery portfolio resulting in the growing need for strong medicinal Chemistry. By working with GVK BIO as a partner, we are able to tap into the huge Chemistry talent pool in India and to work globally on a 24-hours basis".
