BSNL to launch special SIM for foreign tourists

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 6: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) would soon launch a special prepaid SIM for foreign tourists visiting the country, Chief General Manager (CGM) of Kerala K S Sreenivasan said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the validity of the SIM would be for 30 days, and its sale value would be Rs 5,618 and talktime value of Rs 3,000.

Regarding the future plans in Kerala Circle, the CGM said besides 8.5 lakhs mobile connections, 3.25 lakhs land lines and 4.48 lakhs connections on MSC based WLL would be provided in the current year.

''All the wait listed applicants can be provided telephone connection by the end of March next year and connections would be provided 'on demand' in most of the locations, '' he added.

On the achievements, he said the circle had provided 1,06,700 new cellular, 62,261 new wireline connections and 62,148 WLL connections till September 30 this year.

Stating that the circle was the second largest telecome network (BSNL) in the country, Mr Sreenivasan said it had 60.96 lakhs connections, including 20.60 lakhs cellular and 36.03 lakhs land lines.
