Alert sounded, pair of trains cancelled following bandh

Ranchi, Oct 6 (UNI) The Railway authorities today sounded an alert, cancelling eight trains following the CPI(Maoist)-sponsored 24-hour "Jharkhand bandh", which started from mid night last night.

Police said no untoward incident had been reported so far from any part of the state during the bandh period.

Railway sources said eight trains - 3447 Barkakan-Rajendranagar Palamu Express, 3347A Singraulli-Garwah Link Express, 4370B/4369B Barwadih-Choupan Triveni Link Express, 619/620 Gomo-Choupan passenger, 625/626 Gomo-Barkakana passenger, 629/630 Barwadih-Dehri -On-Sone passenger, 627/628 Barkakana Mughalsarai passenger and 737/ 738 Barwadih-Dehri-On-Sone passenger - had been cancelled for the day.

In addition routes of several trains had also been changed.

Special vigil had been taken for Grand Chord Section of East Central Railways, sources added.

Meanwhile, special security arangements had been made for Kolhan range to avert any intoward incident in the area.

Superintendent of Railway Police in Dhanbad Shashinath Jha told UNI over phone that no untoward incident had been reported till now at the Central India Chord (CIC) section, stating that security forces had sounded the alert in the wake of the bandh.

Report from Chatra said business establishments were open but long route buses did not ply in the district.

Reports fropm Daltonganj said no untoward incident was reported there with people showing mixed response to it.
