Swami Bhadracharya calls Tamil Nadu CM 'villain'

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Equating Ram Sethu and national interest, a Hindu seer today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is a 'villain' for both.

Jagatguru Rambhadracharya Viklang Vishwavidyalaya Chancellor Swami Shri Ramabhadracharya Ji Dharamchakravarty Shri Chitrakuttulsipithadhishwar Jagatguru Ramanandacharya Swami Shri Ramabhadracharya Ji Maharaj, challenged the DMK chief to discuss the simmering issue of Ram Sethu (Adam's bridge) with him and substantiate that Lord Ram was a 'drunkard'.

Swami ji -- earlier known as Dr Giridhar Mishra -- presented his views on historical, cultural, religious and spiritual perspectives of Ram Sethu at Chinmaya Mission here.

Swami Ramabhadracharya Ji declared his statement about the college from where Lord Ram had acquired an engineering degree as not only insulting but a direct affront on the faith of Hindus.

Ram Sethu is the symbol of both cultural heritage and scientific wealth of our country whose preservation is of utmost importance, he said. ''On one hand, in order to have nuclear benefits, the Government is discussing the nuclear deal with America and facing the hatred of its own people while on the other, by destroying the bridge, it is trying to destroy the most important nuclear element thorium,''he added.

According to Swami ji, the Sethusamudram project is a recipe for ecological disaster. Dredging of Ram Sethu would only make coastal areas more vulnerable in the event of another tsunami as the effect of the 2004 tsunami was also cushioned by Adam's Bridge.

He added that the bridge also maintains the ecological balance necessary for marine life by checking the rough waters of the Bay of Bengal. ''Even the well-known engineer Melcom P R Light, who is not of Indian origin, has proved it scientifically that the bridge has been continuously saving the Indian water resources for the last 20 years,'' he further said.

On the existence of Shri Ram being questioned in the name of scientifically proven theories and facts, he said if the beliefs like the presence of hair of Hazrat Bal in Mohhamad Sahab, birth of Jesus from a virgin mother, the holy cross of Jesus, have been accepted without any scientific proofs and only in terms of faith, then why not Shri Ram.

Quoting an example from his own life, he said Science too attain its strength from the almighty.'' In 1961, when I was just 11 years old, I coincidently met noted scientist Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha who told me that whenever he felt hopeless at any point of time, he looked at the photograph of Lord Ram for five minutes and he regained all the power and hope automatically,'' he said.

Swami Bhadracharya ji also remembered the controversial Ayodhya issue. ''I really feel shocked that why people have always made Lord Ram the main issue of agitation in terms of religion, sometimes in name of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and now, the Ram Sethu.'' He added the result favoured Ram that time also and the same would happen now.

He had asked the Government to apologise for this biggest fault of their's as according to Section 49 and 51(a) of Indian Constitution also, Ram Sethu should be taken care of as 'national deposit'.

''Karunanidhi has done spite to the nation for which a case should be filed in the court against him. And for the same reason, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni, Minister of Law and Justice Hansraj Bhardwaj and Minister of Shipping, Road and Transport T R Baalu should also resign from their respective posts,'' he added.
