New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has convened a two-day Regional Performance Review Committee meeting in Guwahati from October 9.
At the meet, Mr Singh will review the progress of various rural development schemes in the North Eastern Region (NER) of the country. Ministers of State -- Chandra Sekhar Sahu and Mrs Suryakanta Patil -- and Rural Development Ministers from all the North Eastern states will also be present in the meeting.
The achievements and progress of different Rural Development schemes so far in the NER will be discussed in the meeting at length by the Union Minister. The progress of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY), Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) and Prdhaan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the region will be presented during the meeting.
Mr Singh will also review the water supply and sanitation programme in Assam on the very first day of the meeting. Later in the day he will also address the press to brief about the progress of rural development schemes in the NER. He will also visit the rural areas of Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Jorhat districts of Assam to have first hand information at the grass roots level, said an official release here today.
