Nepal govt asks EC to postpone CA polls
Kathmandu, Oct 5 (UNI) Nepal government today asked the Election Commision to postpone the November 22 Constituent Assembly polls in the country.
In a letter written to the EC this morning, the government requested to put on hold all election programmes, including today's nominations.
A facsimiled letter from the Prime Minister's Office to the Commission, however, had no mention of a new poll date.
The decision finally put an end to the uncertainity hovering around the CA polls to be held in the Himalayan nation.
Earlier, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction and General Secretary of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel confirmed that the polls were certain to be delayed.
