MPCC acts tough against Nanded independent MLA

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today announced that independent MLA from Nanded Pratap Patil Chikhlikar will no longer be the associate member of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

In a statement here, MPCC president Ms Prabha Rau said despite holding the status of an associate member of the CLP, Mr Chikhlikar resorted to anti-party activities in recent local bodies elections in Nanded district. Even for the October 7 Nanded Municipal corporation polls, he worked against the interests of the party.

Ms Rau said the independent MLA continued to work against the Congress despite being told not to do so on number of occasions.

She said she discussed the issue with AICC general secretary Margaret Alva and took the decision to remove Mr Chikhlikar as associate member of the CLP.
