Nagpur, Oct 5: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will hold an air show here on October 10 and 11, as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations.
Speaking to persons here today, IAF Headquarters Maintenance Command (HQMC) Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) Air Marshal J S Apte said the air show would include a static display of various aircraft and equipments on the ground, as well as a flypast and an aerobatic display in the air. The flypast will feature IAF's frontline Jaguar, Mirage and Sukhoi (SU30) aircraft, besides microlites and aeromodels, he said.
These would be flying in from bases in Gwalior, Jodhpur and Gorakhpur, and would be refuelled in mid air on way from an IL-78, Air Marshal Apte said.
The aerobatics would feature the famed 'Suryakiran' team, which would operate from Nagpur, he added. The 'Akashganga' skydiving team would perform only on October 10 because of a prior commitment to perform at the World Military Games to be held in Hyderabad in the same week, he informed.
IAF had invited nearly 6,500 students from 40 schools and 19 colleges in the city to visit the static air display and witness the air show, which will mark the conclusion of the platinum jubilee (1932-2007), Air Marshal Apte said.
