Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Police today sounded a high alert in the city based on intelligence information that Harkat Ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI) activists were roaming in the city to create violence by triggering blasts.
According to police sources here, the Intelligence authorities had informed the city police that the HUJI activists had landed in the city a week ago. They were roaming in the city to trigger blasts after choosing the public places and religious sites.
They also informed the State Intelligence that some Bangladeshis, overstaying in the city without proper documents, were helping the HUJI terrorists. There were also reports that 'human bombs' had also entered into the city to create panic..
Meanwhile, the city police sounded high alert in the city and were conducting searches at holy sites. Police were gathering all the details of the Bangladesh citizens and keeping an eye on them by tracking their movements closely.
Speaking to newspersons here, Charminar ACP Reddanna said metal detectors were installed at all masjids and shadow teams were deployed at all sensitive areas to find the movements of suspicious people.
Police were taking all steps to prevent any untoward incidents during the Ramzan month in the sensitive old city, Mr Reddanna added.
HUJI activists triggered blasts on August 25 at Lumbini Park and Koti areas, claiming more than 40 lives and at Mecca Masjid in May, leaving five people killed and several injured.
