Bhubaneswar, Oct 05 (UNI) The General Stores Depot of East Coast Railways(ECoR) will be established at Mancheswar near here to provide much benefit to the small scale entrepreneurs in Orissa.
A decision in this regard was taken during a discussion between Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Railway Board Chairman Kalyan Candra Jena here today.
The Orissa government had agreed to provide necessary land for setting up of the depot, official sources here said.
Mr Jena informed the Chief Minister that all examinations for running the passenger train on the Daitari-Bansapani rail line were being taken up and steps would be taken to run the passenger train after receipt of Commissioner of Railway safety Certificate in this regard.
The Chief Minister asked the Railway Board Chairman to expedite the various ongoing important railway projects in the state and allocate more funds and provide better amenities to the passengers on the trains running through Orissa.
He also discussed with Mr Jena on the setting up of Special Purpose vehicle for Haridaspur-Paradeep and Angul-Sukinda railway project.
The meeting also discussed on the proposed world class railway station at Barang on the outskirt of capital city and modernisation of the Bhubaneswar Railway station for which the state government agreed to provide necessary land.
ECoR General Manager S S Khurana, Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Bijaya Pattnaik and Commerce and Transport Secretary Priyabrata Pattnaik were present during the discussion.
