New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Farmers from Punjab today held an agitation here, demanding that the government review the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.

Led by the Bhartiya Kisan Union, the farmers, who were also joined in by farmers from Haryana and UP, held an indefinite dharna at Parliament street. The farmers assembled at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in the morning and marched towards Parliament.

They were, however, stopped by the Police near Patel chowk where they sat on the road and started the dharna.

The agitationists raised slogans against the Centre the low price of paddy.

The Governmenmt has fixed MSP for A grade of Paddy for the current season at Rs 675 per quintal. But BKU feels that this MSP does not cover cost of production and will increase burden of debt on farmers.
