Jalandhar, Oct 5 (UNI) Punjab CPM (Pasla) has decided to hold a rally and demonstration here on October 23 in protest against the nuclear deal with America.

The decision was taken in a two-day meeting of the state committee of the party held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Gurnam Singh Daud.

Releasing the decision of the meeting to the media, party secretary Mangat Ram Pasla said that the state committee was of the opinion that nuclear deal will lead to erosion of the nation's independent foreign policy as well as self-reliance in defence matters and economic field.

It would further drag the country into the tentacles of predatory strategic designs of America imperialism, he added.

The committee extended its full support to the struggle of the people of Myanmar against the autocratic rule of military junta and urged the Indian government to intervene politically as well as diplomatically in favour of the struggle for democracy.

The state committee strongly condemned the Central government for resorting to ''jugglary of statistics'' to show that the price spiral had been checked. Such tactics were simply directed to hoodwink the working masses groaning under the weight of ever-rising prices of essential commodities such as flour, pulses, vegetables and onions, it said.

The committee also alleged that forces led by BJP were ''leaving no stone unturned to raise communal issues such as Ramsetu to ignite the communal fire and also to distract the attention of the masses from the real problems''.
