APBAL brings Baron's Strong beer to India

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) Asia Pacific Breweries (Aurangabad) Ltd (APBAL), a 76 per cent subsidiary of Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd (APBL), launched its Baron's Strong Brew in the country.

Baron's, a corporate brand of APBL, is the first international premium strong beer to be brewed and launched by APBAL in India, said a statement.

Baron's Strong Brew will cater to the strong beer segment, which contributes to over two thirds of beer volumes in the country.

The beer is being initially launched in Maharashtra in 650 ml and 330ml bottles priced at Rs 70 and Rs 38 respectively.

The brand aims to carve a strong position for itself in the premium international strong beer segment and will be progressively rolled out in other parts of the nation.

The Indian market is seeing strong growth with the market closing at an estimated 10.8 million hl year at the end of March 2007.

While the CAGR for the past five years is around 13 per cent, the industry is reported to have grown at 18 per cent and 27 per cent respectively in the last two years.
