Nashik, Oct 5 (UNI) State Water Supply and Water Resources Minister Ajit Pawar stated that five per cent posts would be reserved for sportspersons, who have played at the state level in recruitment of various departments.
Preference will be given to players, who have performed at the state level, be it Kho-Kho or Kabaddi.
The state government will implement recruitment of 1,31,000 posts in the state soon. The five per cent reservation will mean 6,500 posts reserved for these sportspersons, Pawar, president of the Maharashtra State Kho-Kho Association said in a programme of the Nashik District Kho-Kho Association (NDKKA) here yesterday.
He also said that the state government has also made provision for sports complexes in the state to provide sports facilities for the players.
On the occasion, scholarships were given to two Kho-Kho teachers and four players of the NDKKA who have been selected for the national competition.
Two teachers, Umesh Atawane and Ravindra Nakil were given Rs 1,001 in cash and a citation at the hands of Mr Pawar.
Four players Ganesh Labhade, Salman Shaikh, Sagar Katyare and Nitin Ahire were also honoured at the hands of the minister on the occasion.
