Karur, Oct 4 (UNI) MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today challenged that he was ready to quit from active politics as well as public life, if DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi proved that he held discussions with any Indian Prime Minister for early implementation of the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP).
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Vaiko pointed out that despite the fact, Mr Karunanidhi used to claim credit for the project.
The MDMK leader alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to divert the attention of the people by enacting a drama that he is a ''Pakutharivu Vathi''(rationalist) and made adverse remarks against Lord Ram.
He alleged that Mr Karunanidhi has given away the State's rights to neighbouring states on many occasions. Recently, the Chief Minister failed to protect the interest of Tamil Nadu, when the Railway Ministry included Pollachi with the Palghat Railway Division, inspite of people in Pollachi relentlessly agitating against the decision, he alleged.
Mr Vaiko alleged that both the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre and the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance Government in Tamil Nadu would not complete its full-term, as their partners were waiting for an opportunity to withdraw their support.
