Islamabad, Oct 4 (UNI) The Central Executive Committee and Federal Council of the Pakistan People's Party have decided to resign from the assemblies on October 5, a day ahead of the presidential election, if the government fails to accede to its demands.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the committees chaired by party chief Benazir Bhutto in London yesterday, Daily Times reported quoting party sources.

Ms Bhutto reiterated the party's stated position that it would not support Gen Musharraf, if he stands for election without doffing his uniform.

''Though the negotiations are still on, the negotiators are not responding positively and are trying to force the party to compromise, which is wrong,'' she said regarding the power sharing deal with the government.

During the meetintg the party leaders submitted their resignations to Ms Bhutto.
