Bangalore, Oct 4 (UNI) Union Minister for Human Resource Development Arjun Singh today said there was no need to bring in guidelines with regard to corporal punishment in schools as such incidents were uncommon.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference 'ICT for Literacy Workshop for E-9 countries' here, he said ''it is disturbing that a few such incidents are happening. However it is not a common phenomena and guidelines to check such incidents are not warranted.'' He said exemplary action would be initiated against those teachers who indulge in corporal punishments. The teachers should ensure that things never go out of control.
