Media persons beaten up for capturing images of bribery

Coochbehar, Oct 4 (UNI) ETV Bangla journalist Partha Chakroborty and cameraman Ashok Dey were beaten up late last night when they shot images of two police personnel allegedly demanding bribe from an ambulance driver here at Harishpal Choumatha.

The journalist and cameraman today claimed that the police personnel were demanding bribe from an ambulance driver.

''When they saw us taking pictures of them taking bribe from an ambulance driver, they fled from the area. We followed suite and caught up and demanded to know what they were doing,'' said the cameraman, who was presently admitted to a local hospital, after being beaten up severly by a team of police personnel from Kotwali Police Station, who caught up with the journalists.

Assistant Sub-Inspectors Bablu Rai and Pritish Hore have been suspended, Superintendant of Police Anil Kumar said here today and added that an official enquiry has begun into the matter.
