Celtic fan banned for life after owning up to Dida attack

By Staff

LONDON, Oct 4 (Reuters)A 27-year-old Celtic fan who invaded the pitch and slapped AC Milan goalkeeper Dida at the end of a Champions League match made himself known to the club today and was given a life ban.

The unnamed individual was also handed over to the police who were detaining him in custody in Glasgow, Celtic said in a statement on their Web site (www.celticfc.net).

The development came after Strathclyde Police launched a hunt for the man urging him to give himself up.

The incident occurred after Celtic scored a late goal to seal a 2-1 victory over the European champions in their Group D clash at Celtic Park yesterday.
