BJP demands special UP assembly session

Lucknow, Oct 4 (UNI) Expressing dissatisfaction over the functioning of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, BJP today demanded that a special session of Uttar Pradesh assembly be convened to discus the prevailing situation.

Talking to newspersons here, UP BJP vice-president Hridyanarain Dixit referred to the ''hardships'' faced by the farmers and failure of the state machinery to provide relief in the flood affected areas for the need of the special assembly session.

He also demanded an open discussion in the house on colossal expenses towards unproductive works and dismal law and order scenario in UP.

Earlier, the BJP legislature party held a meeting at the state party headquarters.

The meeting was inaugurated by state BJP president Dr Ramapati Ram Tripathi, who stressed the need of strengthening the outfit at every level and activating its cadre base.
