New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) Second seed Ashutosh Singh and unseeded Prajnesh Gunneswaran chalked out contrasting victories over Yuki Bhambri and Navdeep Singh to set up a title clash in the DSCL Open National tennis championship here today.

Seasoned Ashutosh Singh halted teenager Yuki Bhambri's stupendous run as the second seed overpowered him 6-2, 6-3 in the first semi-finals.

Chennai teenager Prajnesh Gunneswaran stunned eighth seed Navdeep Singh 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in other semi-final.

In the women's section, top seed Isha Lakhani and second seed Rushmi Chakrvarthy made it to the final.

Isha dug into her rich experience and came out firing on all cylinders to oust Sanaa Bhambri 6-2, 6-2. Rushmi Chakravarthy was in irrepresible form as she outslugged Sonal Phadke 6-4, 6-1.

In the men's section, having made news all week with his bold results, Yuki found the going tough against Ashutosh.

The second seed, who knows the perimeters of the courts at DLTA like the back of his hand, relies on a pair of good hands and percentage tennis in winning his points.

On this day, Yuki did not have a shot which he could count on as a weapon and played into Ashutosh's hands. A straight set 6-2, 6-3 win for the senior Delhi pro was a just reflection of his domination in the one-sided contest.

Navdeep had a good run this week just like Yuki. Just that when it came to the big match, Prajnesh, who trains under Rishi Sridhar in Chennai, showed a very positive approach in winning the match.

In the women's section, for left-handed Sanaa, this was a big loss considering that she has it in her to play the big matches well. ''I guess it was not my today,'' Sanaa said.

Rushmi, who returned to the Nationals after a two-year break, used her potent inside-out forehand to good effect on the hard courts. For Sonal, it has been a case of having come this far many a times in the past and then not crossing the final hurdle.

And for Rushmi, who has been champion before, this is a good chance to again etch her name on the crown.
