BRISBANE, Australia, Oct 3 (Reuters) Batsman Lou Vincent has been recalled to the New Zealand squad for next month's test tour of South Africa, New Zealand Cricket said today.
Vincent, who has been in and out of the test team since his debut against Australia in 2001, replaced Peter Fulton, who was ruled out with a knee injury.
Fulton needs surgery but should be available for the Chappell-Hadlee one-day international series in Australia in December.
With Craig Cumming and Michael Papps expected to open the innings, Vincent is likely to battle with Ross Taylor for a spot in the middle order.
Vincent last played test cricket in August 2005 against Zimbabwe.
