Snehasis added as party to Rizwanur's murder case

Kolkata, Oct 3 (UNI) Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly's brother Snehasis was added as a party to Rizwanur's Rehman's mother Krishwar Jahan's writ petition before Calcutta High Court seeking CBI inquiry into her son's death.

Justice Soumitro Pal of Calcutta High Court today granted leave for adding Snehasis as a party to the case after Mr Kalyan Banerjee, lawyer of the petitioner, argued before the bench praying for his inclusion into the case.

Justice Pal also granted leave to the petitioner for filing a supplementary affidavit after the lawyer pleaded that there had been some important developments related with the death of Rizwanur since the petition was filed.

The petitioner filed the affidavit before the bench this afternoon.

Arguing before the bench, Mr Banerjee said investigations revealed that police acted beyond its jurisdiction and both Rizwanur and his wife were tortured mentally at Lal bazar, the headquarters of Calcutta police.
