Bangalore, Oct 3 (UNI) Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has sought an inquiry into alleged suicide by Indian Institute of Sciences Research student Ajay Shree Choudhry on August 27. SHRC Chairman Mr Justice S R Nayak said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that the 21-year-old Ajay, a native of Andhra Pradesh, belonging to Scheduled Caste and during Research in Biological Sciences, allegedly committed suicide at the IISc Hostel.

Boy's Father had charged that his son was forced to commit suicide since he was unable to sustain the alleged harassment meted out to him by a Professor in IISc, who was also a guide for his Research.

Justice Nayak said that based on the media reports, the Commission took cognigence of the incident and had written letter to the State Home Secretary seeking investigation into the incident and instructed to complete the probe within one month.

It may be recalled here, that the Commission has already written to investigate into burning of Tamil Nadu state owned bus in which two passengers were charred to death last month over Ramsethu issue.

"The state government was instructed to probe whether there was any lapse on the part of police in preventing such a ghastly incident" Justice Nayak said.
