Sauda chief to appear in CBI court tomorrow, police gears up

Ambala, Oct 3 (UNI) Security arrangements here have been tightened with Sirsa Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh facing allegations of murders and rape set to appear in the special CBI court tomorrow under orders from Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The High Court, while accepting his anticipatory bail had directed the Dera Chief to attend the CBI court on October 4 to submit bail bond personally.

Reports from Sirsa said that the Dera Chief was all set to attend the court and had already left for Ambala with his cavalcade.

Meanwhile, the district magistrate Mohammed Shayin imposed Section 144 restricting gathering of more than five people in the court complex in wake of a large number of Dera 'Premis' camping in the sprawling HUDA stadium grounds and other open spaces leading to the court.

The administration has geared up to avoid any untoward situation and Haryana DGP Ranjeev Dalal held a meeting with the superintendent of Police K V Ramanna to discuss law and order situation arising out of surging crowds of the Dera followers.

To pre-empt any ugly situation, police has been deployed in strength here since last night as the Dera Chief was expected to be present in the court tomorrow.

The special CBI judge R N Bharati had issued summons against him after the CBI had submitted chargesheet holding the dera chief responsible for murder of a journalist Chhatrapati and one Ranjit Singh of Kurukshetra and also in rape case of a sadhvi of the dera.
