Robbery case of Rs 20 lakh solved, 5 held

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) Crime Branch unit-VII sleuths today solved a Rs 20 lakh robbery case of September 12 by arresting five persons here in this connection.

Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria told mediapersons here today that acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team, headed by Police Inspector Udaysingh Rathod, nabbed Anant Balu Kolambe (25) from Antop Hill in South Central Mumbai this morning.

During the interrogation, Kolambe disclosed names of his associates who were involved in the robbery at L T Marg.

The accomplices -- identified as Ramnath alias Rana Chhangur Sharma (31), Amjad Abdul Rashid Sheikh (25), Nazir Jahir Khan (21) and Ram alias Ramu Gulab Sahani (28), -- were arrested from Antop Hill, Nagpada and Farsroad area at 1130 hours, he said, addeding, of the total Rs 20 lakh, the police team also seized Rs 11.20 lakh from their possession, All of them will be produced in the court tomorrow, he stated.
