Raksha Manch to fight on for heritage status for Ramsetu

Hisar, Oct 3 (UNI) Rameshwaram Ramsetu Raksha Manch supremo S Kalyan Raman today declared that the forum will continue to mobilise its followers nation-wide until the ''ancient and sacred Ramsetu was bestowed with the due honour of a world heritage site.'' Interacting with mediapersons here today, Dr Raman claimed that the ancient bridge had saved lives during Tsunami and could play a major role of a saviour once again in case another Tsunami, which has been predicted in media, hit the country's coasts.

''The bridge is being destroyed under a conspiracy and I have written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the possible dangers in case it is damaged, '' Dr Raman said adding that the Supreme Court's decision in this regard. must be respected.

''The Manch will take every measure to save the sacred Ramsetu,'' he asserted.

Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Mata Trust general secretary Vijay Sharma announced that district-wide marches were being conducted in the state till October 10 and the Trust would embark upon a fortnight-long campaign to recruit voluteers to save Ramsetu.

The Valmiki Jayanti on October 26 will be observed as ''Save Ramsetu Day'' while from November 20 to December-end 'Sants' will visit villages nation-wide to mobilise people for the cause, he added.

''If need be, we plan to hold a Hindu mega-conference with an aim to have upto 30 lakh participants,'' Mr Sharma said.
