Lahore, Oct 3: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief and former cricketer Imran Khan has said that Pakistan is being turned into a banana republic where the dictator"s word is the law, and all decisions were taken according to his whims.
Commenting on resignation by parliamentarians of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM), Khan said that the delay in resignations from the assemblies were not likely to impact the political situation in the country.
He said that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) should have quit the assemblies soon after Pervez Musharraf had backed out of his commitment to give up his uniform on Dec 31, 2004.
He said the APDM would try to prevent Musharraf from being re-elected as President because such an attempt was unconstitutional.
A public servant could not be allowed to run for any election, and the APDM"s decision to quit assemblies is aimed at checking the regime"s unbridled powers, the Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.
Besides,

step,
