Lucknow, Oct 3 (UNI) After primary schools, now the Midday Meal scheme will be launched at all the higher primary schools in the educationally backward 695 blocks of Uttar Pradesh.
After reviewing the Yojna here, state principal secretary Prashant Kumar Mishra said the scheme to be kickstarted in the higher primary schools would benefit almost 40 lakh children, who would be provided meal having the calorific value of 700 and 20 gm protein.
He said at present, the scheme was benefitting 1.94 crore students at the state primary schools.
Under the new scheme, 80 per cent cost would be met by the centre and 20 per cent by the state government.
Mr Mishra directed setting up of a task force at district and block levels under the leadership of the DM and the ADM respectively for the smooth functioning and monitoring of the scheme.
