Minor raped, two abducted girls rescued in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested one person for allegedly raping a minor girl and also rescued two girls abducted in the Kashmir valley.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Handwara, in the frontier district of Kupwara, Dr Haseeb Mughal said Salam Bhat lodged a FIR in police station alleging that her minor daughter Fareeda was raped by one Altaf Ahmad Sheikh of the same village on September 26 when she had taken cattle to graze in the forest area.

He said medical examination of the girl proved that she was raped.

He said the accused has been arrested under section 376 RPC.

The SP said acting on another report lodged by Mushtaq Ahmad War that his sister was abducted, police arrested accused Mudasir Ahmad Bhat at Drdpora-Kralpora today, and the girl was rescued and handed over to her parents, SP said.

Dr Mughal said in another case an application was received from one Sajad Ahmad Khan alleging that her daughter Rehana Sajad has been kidnapped by one Tasaduk Ahmad Tantray at Rajpora, Handwara.

Later police raided a number of places and finally arrested the accused at Vilgam alongwith the girl, who was handed over to her parents.
